    The Problem: Defy Hob Failing to Regulate Heat

  </h2>

  <p style="font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px;">

    A customer brought in this classic Defy glass top hob after it started throwing a major tantrum in the kitchen. One of the radial plates was acting up—either refusing to heat up at all or stuck on maximum heat, completely ignoring the dial control settings.

    The Fix: Swapping the Siebe Regulator & Testing the Radial Plate

  </h2>

  <p style="font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px;">

    Once the glass top was safely off, I traced the circuits back to the control switches. The radial heating plate itself was still drawing steady resistance, but the real culprit was a faulty, worn-out Siebe regulator switch behind the control dial. Over the years, the internal bi-metal contacts degrade, causing them to weld shut or lose contact entirely. I stripped out the old switch, wired in a fresh OEM replacement, and reassembled the unit. The radial element now cycles perfectly across all heat levels.
